Urban Waggle Holiday Event

By Katina Bentley, Associate Director @ Urban Beekeeping Lab November 16, 2023

The Urban Bee Lab is hosting a unique fundraiser this holiday season called “Urban Waggle, Stage Stories for the Good of the Hive.” It is a live storytelling event where audience members will leave feeling inspired, entertained, and more connected to one another through the uniquely human art of storytelling. Whether it is date-night, mom’s night out, or ladies’ night out, this seasonal event debuts with eight amazing storytellers for one night only on November 30th at Arts at the Armory.

Inspired by The Moth and in partnership with coaches from the Meghann Perry Group, storytellers will take the stage to share a five minute personal narrative under the theme, “honey”. Loosely and creatively interpreted, the stories are considered sticky, sweet or raw. All ticket holders in attendance will also be entered to win an overnight trip to Vermont which includes a stay at the 1824 House, two ski passes to Mad River Glen and a private tour of the Barr Hill Distillery.

Ticket prices start at $40 for general admission and include free parking in the venue (or overflow) lot. A VIP ticket is also being offered with a private reception in the Rooted Cafe, on site at Arts at the Armory. Net proceeds from the event will support programs in education and research to improve bee and pollinator health. Urban Bee Lab sees bees as the ultimate tie that binds food security, climate change, natural disaster mitigation, and ecological preservation.
