Festival of Trees: Virtual Edition

By Hingham Women's Club November 26, 2020

The Hingham Women's Club presents its annual Festival of Trees: Virtual Edition! Festival of Trees is an annual event hosted by the Hingham Women’s Club during Christmas in the Square, a Hingham holiday tradition for thousands of residents and South Shore neighbors.  Due to the Pandemic, Christmas in the Square and Festival of Trees will look a little different.  This year's event will kick off on Giving Tuesday, December 1st, and end on Saturday, December 5th at 8 pm. The website, hwcfestivaloftrees.org,  will showcase nearly 40 beautifully decorated trees for a silent auction and a dozen raffles, all of which have been donated by individuals, groups, and businesses.

It will also feature a direct giving campaign for those wishing to make a cash contribution to the Festival of Trees. The money raised during this five-day event benefits Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore and the HWC Scholarship Fund.  Last year, this event raised $12,000 for the Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore and $4,000 for the HWC Scholarship Fund.  The Hingham Women’s Club is hoping to meet or exceed this amount this year to provide Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore with the funds they need to support their ever-growing population of families in need. The funds are given without restriction to Friends of the Homeless, allowing them to be used for everything from paying for an Uber so a mom can get to a job interview to putting a new roof on one of the shelter buildings.

Popular tree themes this year include shop local, surviving quarantine, health & wellness, and food & wine.  There are plenty of trees to keep kids busy too! From zoo memberships, to gift cards for tubing and snowshoeing, to Festival of Lights tickets – there’s something for everyone!

Hingham Women's Club is a non-profit organization of women that serves the Hingham and South Shore communities, providing charitable giving, direct community service, and social opportunities for its members.  Our vision is to have our local community well served, through partnerships, for those in need. The HWC supports families, students, and seniors within the community. Simply stated, we are women giving back to the community.
