Massachusetts Tax-Free Weekend 2020

The perfect time to shop local and small!

By Noelle Monaghan, Worcester Macaroni Kid Publisher August 20, 2020

The sales tax holiday for 2020 will occur on August 29 and 30. Retail items of up to $2,500, purchased in Massachusetts for personal use on these two days, will be exempt from sales tax. This is a time when caregivers typically use the weekend to buy back to school essentials without paying sales tax.

Massachusetts residents won't have to pay sales tax on retail items priced at $2,500 or less each, as long as they purchase the products for personal use during the MA tax-free weekend. The first $175 of a clothing item priced above $2,500 isn't subject to sales tax, either.

It's the perfect chance to support local and small businesses! For more information check out the MA Government Website.
