Get Out and Quest!

Fun for the Entire Family for Just Five Bucks - Put Away the Screens and Get Outside!

By South Shore Quests May 14, 2020

Looking for some outdoor fun for the whole family?  Look no further than South Shore Quests.  Developed by an all-volunteer committee, Quests are clue-directed walks through local parks, woodlands, and public places of historic interest.  With your 2020 South Shore Quests book in hand, you will follow a series of clues leading you to a hidden box which contains a Quest notebook, rubber stamp and ink pad, and possible information about the area.

Quests encourage observation, following directions, and exploration of places you never knew existed.  You may even find a fairy!  Quest hikes vary in length, trail difficulty, and complexity of finding the clues.  Many Quests take around 45 minutes to complete, some take longer.  The 2020 Quest book contains 15 Quest trails in various locations along the South Shore including Abington, Braintree, Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Norwell, Scituate, Quincy, and Weymouth.

Due to the stay-at-home order, the places that usually sell Quest books are closed.   All the Quests are posted on the SSQ web site.

For a suggested donation of $5, you may download the 2020 Quest booklet.

There are no Quest boxes in place.  You can still enjoy exploring new places and testing your skills at finding clues to the box location.  The clue phrase will work as your proof of completion if you are working towards a patch.  Still, want to stamp your book?  Create your own SDS (Social Distancing Stamp) to use.   Check out SSQ’s Create a Stamp page for ideas on how to get started.  Share your design on SSQ Facebook page or email to admin@southshorequests.org for a chance to win a free 2021 Quest book.

The Quests season begins April 15th and concludes November 15th.  Try this inexpensive, interactive way to enjoy the sunny days ahead!  Get your 2020 book and start trekking!
