This isn’t the right question. Increasingly parents with children ages 3 through 7 years old are feeling pressure to start their children in specific sports. In addition, many parents are wondering if they should start picking just one or two sports for their child to specialize in. This trend seems to be due to a growing industry of athletic programs that are marketing sports to younger children and offering year-round practice and game schedules.
At My Gym, we don’t specialize in one sport, but rather in getting kids active and learning to enjoy physical activity by trying new things and developing physical confidence. When children are young, we don’t believe that a long-term focus on an individual sport is the best way to develop a child’s athleticism or long-term interest in sports. My Gym classes focus on a wide variety of physical skills including balance, agility, hanging, tumbling, fine motor skills, and hand-eye and foot-eye coordination. Cardiovascular exercise is also a focus, with class activities that keep kids constantly active.
If your goal is to develop your child’s interest and skills in athletics, we encourage you to try My Gym. In every My Gym class, children get two dedicated and well-trained teachers in a class size that guarantees they will get plenty of attention. At My Gym, all children get equal time, and the constantly changing activities within our program keeps kids interested and focused. Kids want to keep coming back to their My Gym class because we make physical activity fun!
