South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces that tickets for its 2018 Summer Spotlight outdoor concert series are on sale now. This season marks the 22nd anniversary of the series, which features Evenings Under the Stars (EUS) Saturday evening concerts, and much-loved Wacky Wednesdays family concerts. All performances take place in the Jane Carr Amphitheater at One Conservatory Drive in Hingham.
Evenings Under the Stars (EUS) Saturday evening performances are full of fresh talent, grooving music and ties to SSC’s Jazz/Rock/Pop (JRP) series this summer. On July 7, EUS kicks off pairing the Evenings Under the Stars Festival Orchestra, led by Hingham native Nicholas Palmer, with vocal soloists who have close ties with SSC. Audiences will enjoy the sultry sounds of Carmen, the humorous and tragic lyric theater of West Side Story, the timeless tunes of La Traviata. On July 14, Boston-based Heavy Metal Horns, an award-winning funk, and soul band, takes the stage. Once called “the best horn section since the Tower of Power,” Heavy Metal Horns, with SSC saxophonist John Vanderpool, is one of SSC’s JRP Series performances.
James MontgomeryBack by popular demand on Saturday, July 21, some of Berklee College of Music's best and brightest musicians, under the leadership of Professor Matt Jenson, rock the stage with the Berklee Bob Marley Ensemble. The James Montgomery Blues Band presents its incredibly energetic blues show at the final Evenings Under the Stars performance on July 28. After 30 years, it is still one of the hottest acts in Boston.
Preconcert receptions allow EUS concertgoers to relax with a glass of wine and light appetizers, converse with other music lovers, and find out a little bit about each performance ahead of time
Wacky Wednesdays family concerts, sponsored by The Harold and Avis Goldstein Trust, start on July 11 with the toe-tapping original music of award-winning interactive entertainer Karen K and the Jitterbugs. On July 18, Boston-based children’s singer-songwriter Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys get the audience up on their feet and dancing with Trien’s lively folk/roots/pop music. Debbie and Friends bring their brand of fun, energetic and interactive pop music for elementary students to the stage on July 25. SSC’s ImagineARTS band takes the stage on August 1, playing favorite tunes such as “See How I’m Jumping” and “Funga Alafia”, concluding with a special presentation of the popular children’s story Pete the Cat and the New Guy.
New and exciting for this summer’s concerts are food trucks at each performance. Interspersed throughout the series are Sadie Mae’s Cupcake Cafe, Rolling Roost Food Truck, and Mom on the Go Food Truck, offering a variety of fare such as indulgent cupcakes, designer grilled cheese, barbecue pulled pork, steak burritos, strawberry avocado salad, couscous salad with cherries, and avocado toast.
Evenings Under the Stars Saturday evening concerts start at 7 pm, Wacky Wednesdays family concerts start at 10 am. Parking for Wednesday morning concerts is onsite for everyone. Although limited onsite parking is available for handicapped patrons, parking for Saturday night concerts for the public is at the Hingham School Bus Depot. Shuttle buses provide transportation to the Carr Amphitheater from 5:30 pm to 6:55 pm prior to Saturday night concerts. Return service follows the performance.
Tickets for Evenings Under the Stars performances purchased before the day of the concert are $40 for pavilion and $25 for lawn seating. Evenings Under the Stars tickets purchased at the door are $45 for pavilion seating and $30 for the lawn. Preconcert reception tickets are $25. Season subscriptions to the four Saturday evening concerts are available for $240 for pavilion and $180 for lawn seating and include the pre-concert receptions. There is no charge for children two and under.
Tickets for Wacky Wednesdays family concerts are $15 adult and $5 children two and older.

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) has been providing access to and enriching the lives of South Shore residents through music and the arts for over 45 years.
