Flower Power Lunchbox with Danimals Yo-Tubes and Squeezables

By Laurie Corbett, Publisher Macaroni Kid South Shore Boston and Mom of Three February 12, 2018

I have partnered with Dannon Danimals to discuss Danimals Yo-Tubes and Danimals Squeezables. I have been compensated for my time. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.

It's mid-winter but we are already dreaming of springtime and a flower power themed lunch is on the menu for this week! Most nights in our house dad is in charge of the post-dinner craziness that we call bath time because I take that time to make the kids lunches for the next day. I enjoy putting together fun, nutritious lunches for all of my kids but bath times don't last forever and mom is on duty for story time. Thank goodness for Danimals and their new nutritious yogurt pouches and tubes! They make it so easy for me to throw together a fun, nutritious lunch for my kids. My kids aren’t really sandwich eaters so I am always on the lookout for fun, easy packable alternatives that meet the My Plate Guidelines for kids! Once a week I boil an extra pot of water while I am making dinner and cook up some whole grain pasta to use in lunches throughout the week. Then while dad is taking care of baths I can grab ½ cup of pasta, cut up a cup of the kids favorite veggies (for this salad I used ¼ cup each of cucumber, sugar snap peas, carrots and grape tomatoes), add ½ cup of cooked beans or 2 oz. of rotisserie chicken, depending on the kid, and an ounce of cheese for a simple and fun pasta salad. Then I quickly cut up ½ cup of yummy berries to go along with the pasta salad. Berries always make me dream of spring even on the snowiest winter days. I love that with a few vegetable cutters I ordered for less than $4 on Amazon I can take their lunch from boring to an awesome flower power and springtime themed pasta and fruit salad lunch.

Then I throw in a Danimals Squeezable for my three and five-year-olds, and a Danimals Yo-Tube for my seven-year-old in the freezer. I love that Danimals Yo-Tubes and Squeezables thaw by lunch! The next morning I just add them to the lunchbox and my kids have a delicious, fun, nutritious lunch that meets the My Plate Guidelines for kids. The best part is I can throw it all together in less time than it takes my husband to finish bath time.

I also keep a box of Danimals Yo-Tubes and Squeezables in the freezer for easy to grab snacks on the weekend. I can throw them in our bag when we leave the house and they are thawed by the time they need a nutritious, delicious snack to fuel their weekend fun!
