Did You Know There Are People Who Have Never Seen Annie?

By Laurie Corbett May 11, 2017

Did you know there are people who have never seen Annie? I'm not just talking about the fabulous, Tony award-winning musical that is playing right now at the Wang Theatre, in Boston, but people who have never seen Annie in any form. For some reason, this never occurred to me until we were at the theater and I overheard more than one person mention it. If this is you now is the time to change that!

This week we had the honor of attending the family-friendly musical Annie as members of the press and the show is nothing short of spectacular. I have always loved live theater and musicals are my very favorite. The entire cast of Annie from Gilgamesh Taggett as the slightly rigid but loveable Oliver Warbucks to Angelina Carballo as the spunky and spirited Annie do not disappoint. There are even two local girls, Amanda and Katie Wylie, from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts among the talented and adorable orphans who come close to stealing the show a few times.

As a lover of voice and song the music stole the show for me and my very favorite song was Little Girls (because really what mom can't related to that at least a little) and Erin Fish, as Miss Hannigan, blew it out of the water. My girls said that every song was their favorite but I loved that my youngest's face lit up as the full orchestra played snippets of songs as the lights went down and she clearly recognized them. I secretly think the fact that Sandy was a real dog is what stole the show for them.

Annis is playing now through May 21st, at the Wang Theatre, in Boston. This is their final stop on a 92-city tour so do not wait to go see it. You won't be disappointed. Learn more and purchase tickets at www.anniethemusical.com
