The Quest for the Best Breakfast on the South Shore

Jac's Cafe in Rockland

By Laurie Corbett, Publisher Mom, South Shore Boston April 7, 2016
I love spending time with each of my children alone. One of our favorite things to do is go out for breakfast! Over the winter my daughter and I walked in the door of Jac’s Cafe and immediately felt like we had been there before.  There were just seven tables, and a few high stools at a counter but the warmth and comfortableness of the space felt like walking in the door of a friend’s house.  I was immediately greeted with a hello, and the offer of a cup of coffee while we waited for a table to open up. Coffee! They knew the way to my heart already. As I wrapped my hands around the oversized, Aztec printed, coffee cup, and glanced at the chalkboard menus on the walls, I knew I had found something special.

A spot at the counter opened up quickly. My three year old’s eye lit up as she climbed up onto the high stool right next to a pile of donuts covered in frosting, colorful breakfast cereal and candy. She was in heaven and so was I as my coffee cup was refilled. We checked out the menu and settled on a dinner plate sized loaded waffle and a breakfast potato skins special - filled with corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese and a show stopping chipotle ketchup. From seven different flavors of flapjacs, to protein smoothies, house made sausage patties, and a Fit Five Skinny section filled with healthier options including an acai berry bowl, egg whites, and multigrain flapjacs there is something for everyone at Jac’s Café
