Fun With Spray Chalk!

By Laurie Corbett, Publisher Mom, South Shore Boston June 26, 2014
This summer we are going screen free so we are trying out as many Pinterest craft projects as we can find to keep the girls busy and engaged. This weekend we tested out Spray Chalk. My girls loved it! It goes on like watercolors and dries to look like chalk. We played around with a few recipes and here is what worked for us.

What You'll Need

Spray bottles (we got ours at the dollar store)
Cornstarch
Baking soda
Water
Food coloring

What You'll Do

1) Mix equal parts cornstarch and baking soda.

2) Fill the spray bottles 1/3 to 1/2 full with the mixture.

3) Add 5 - 10 drops of food coloring.

4) Add warm water to fill the bottle and shake well.

5) Head outside, and spray away!

6) Shake every few minutes while playing to ensure cornstarch/baking soda combo doesn't settle and cause the sprayer to clog.

Tips

1) If you stop playing with the spray chalk take the sprayers off the bottles and run warm water through them with water. If you leave them they will clog up with the cornstarch/baking soda mixture and are very hard to unclog.

2) If you want to give the spray chalk as a gift stop after step 3 and give them the directions to finish making them!
