I needed to have a work meeting last Friday, but as many of you know I have a one and three year old, and if the meeting happens during the day and during the week they have to come along! I usually have my meeting at the play area at the Hanover Mall. Odd I know, but the kids are contained and I don't have to change plans if the weather is bad.

Friday however the woman I was meeting was going from the other direction, and it didn't make sense to meet at the mall. So, I put the question out to all the wonderful South Shore moms on our Facebook page for a great playground in the Whitman/Hanson area, and everyone was full of great ideas! I went with the playgrounds behind Maquan Elementary School in Hanson and I wasn't disappointed!

There were two playgrounds behind the school, and after trekking across the grass that was still wet with morning dew I realized we could have used the parking lot on the right side of the school, and come around that way. One of the playground is a small space contained with a fence, that has a number of plastic toys, houses, and a small plastic climbing structure and it perfect for smaller kids. My girls happily played here for over an hour.

The other playground was appropriate for school age kids, and looks very new. There were climbing structure, slides, swings, a zipline, and even a section for making music. My three year old HAD to check out the drums on our way by and loved them! There are a few picnic tables, and some shade in the morning, but it isn't particularly shady. There are no bathrooms so go prepared to leave if someone needs to go to the bathroom. It also is right up against the woods to definitely bring your bug spray.

This playground is a great place for summer playground hopping adventures, or weekend trips, but is not available for use by the public during the school day before 4PM.
