By Christina Skeldon October 5, 2022

Hoot and holla! Flannel Jam, Levitate’s Fall music festival, returns for its third year this Columbus Day weekend at a New England town near you!

An extension of Levitate’s brand of creativity and positivity celebrating Fall in New England, Flannel Jam is a touring music and arts festival making stops in Marshfield (Saturday, October 8), Portland (Sunday, October 9), and Nantucket (Monday, October 10). “With a down to earth, homegrown feel and amazing bands, food, fall festivities, and foliage, it’s a dream to bring Levitate on the road through our favorite towns in New England” said Levitate owner Dan Hassett.

The inaugural Flannel Jam was held in 2019 before taking a year off due to the pandemic. The festival returned in 2021 with some restrictions in place; excitement is building now that the festival’s full potential will finally come to fruition this year. Flannel Jam features an eclectic group of bands who bring a mix of bluegrass, folk, Americana, country, and jam innovation: Greensky Bluegrass are headlining the group of touring musicians along with Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway and Midnight North, bringing an eclectic mix of bluegrass, folk, Americana, country, and jam innovation on the road. “Each of the Flannel Jam headliners brings a unique, fluid perspective to their music” Hassett said. “If you think you aren’t into bluegrass, I think you’ll be surprised.”

Rolling Stone described Greensky Bluegrass as having a “broadly inclusive sound that features wide-open psychedelia and sturdy Americana songcraft” and said the band “continue[s] to move beyond the conventional boundaries of bluegrass.” Molly Tuttle joins as the first woman ever named Guitar Player of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association, and Levitate is excited to welcome back Midnight North, who put on a stellar show at the 2022 Levitate Music Festival in Marshfield MA.

The tour will also features one-night-only performances by acts set to bring local flavor; Marshfield will host The Whiskey Treaty Roadshow, Aldous Collins & The Like Minded Folk, and Blacktop Strut, King Kyote and Silver Heels will rock Portland and the Nantucket concert will highlight Buckle & Shake.

Families are welcome at Flannel Jam; each stop features a Kid’s Corral with fun fall activities, and irresistible fresh hot cider donuts will be made on site (a toddler’s dream!). Adults can enjoy local beer, hot spiked cider, and cocktails from breweries and distilleries local to each stop: Untold Brewing and Bully Boy Distillery in Marshfield, Banded Brewing and Maine Distillery in Portland and Cisco Brewers and 888 on Nantucket. Levitate will also be unveiling new additions to their popular line of flannel shirts and Fall apparel at the festival - there’s no excuse to not go all in on the weekend’s theme!

As with all branches of the Levitate brand, one percent of all proceeds from Flannel Jam will go towards the newly-launched Levitate Foundation, which aims to help Levitate communities through music, art, and the environment through a variety of charitable means.
