What a whirlwind the past week and a half have been! I feel like everyone went from full blown summer mode straight to school, fall and all things pumpkin in the blink of an eye. While I am still so sad that summer is over, September is by far my favorite month and I am not hating the fact that the pumpkin cold brew is back at Starbucks. Now that kids are settling into school, the events are rolling in. Don't forget to head to the event calendar for the full line up this week and to check out your top 5 events happening on the South Shore!
1. ABC Reading Adventure Preschool Enrichment Open House, Friday
ABC Reading Adventure is a special place that offers amazing services for ages 3 all the way up to grade 8. To welcome families into their new location in North Scituate, they are hosting an Open House to come check out the space. Snacks and crafts will be provided for the little ones and parents can learn more about the programs they offer!
2. The Grand Re-Opening of Kids World!, Saturday
Kids World is an open indoor play area where kids ages 1-6 can jump, play, build, and explore to their hearts’ content. After being closed for the summer months, it is re-opening this Saturday and I am so excited! If you have followed along for awhile, you know that we are big fans of Kids World and South Shore Sports Center! MAC KID SPECIAL: get half off entry on Tuesdays when you mention Mac Kid at check in!
3. Hingham Harborworks, Saturday
This community-wide event, which has been a cherished annual south shore occurrence for more than 25 years, has not taken place for the past three years due to lack of funding, volunteers and the pandemic. With Showcase Cinemas’ support, the 2022 Hingham Harborworks will once again give the community the opportunity to watch Hingham Harbor sparkle under the fireworks. With a full lineup of events all day long leading up to the fireworks at night, this is an event not to be missed!
4. Endless Summer 2022 - Annual Waterfront Festival, Saturday
The name of this festival is reason enough to attend. Raise your hand if you are here for an endless summer?! Endless Summer is a celebration of Hull’s great community of people, businesses, schools and town departments and is a reminder to everyone on the South Shore that Hull is open year round!
Live Music, Food, Vendors, Contests and a beautiful day at the beach make for a perfect Saturday!
5. 14th Annual Marshfield Community Rib Cook-Off, Saturday
25+ teams will be competing for bragging rights to “Best Ribs on the South Shore”. Head to Marshfield Fairgrounds to taste, compare and vote on your favorite. In addition to ribs, attendees will be able to purchase sides from Fetch BBQ and Five C Catering; sampling everything from mac n cheese, baked beans, collards with pulled pork, to homemade potato chips. For the sweet tooth, B’s Homemade Ice Cream will dishing out a variety of flavors. In addition to beer and wine, Stellwagen Brewery will also be there!
