5 Things to Do this Week on the South Shore (6/13-6/19)

There's lots of fun happening on the South Shore this week!

By Christina Skeldon June 14, 2022

We are officially in mid June and I already have that pit in my stomach feeling that summer is flying by. Anyone else? Now is the time to do all of the events because there are so many great, family friendly, outdoor things happening that will help you soak up every second of this sweet, New England summer. As always, head to the event calendar for the full line up but here are your top picks!

1. Storywalk: Juneteenth for Mazie, Tuesday- Saturday

There is nothing like being able to teach your kids while being outside at the same time. If you haven't done a Storywalk yet, now is the time! A StoryWalk® is a fun, educational activity that places a children’s story (literally a book taken apart) along a popular walking route in your community. This is the second time Norwell Public Library has done one and I love that this time the book is relevant and educational for kids. Read "Juneteenth for Mazie" by Floyd Cooper while walking around the outdoor library grounds this week before it's too late!

2. Rockland Day 2022, Friday and Saturday

The Town of Rockland, Rockland Recreation, and REiMAGINE ROCKLAND are excited to announce Rockland Day 2022 will be a two-day event on Friday, June 17th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.!
Live music, food trucks, children's activities, arts & crafts and a firework finale!

3. The Green x Untold Brewing Beer GardenCelebrate Pride, Saturday

Join Derby Street and Untold’s Beer Garden on The Green to celebrate PRIDE month and support The Hingham Pride Project. Enjoy Live Music from Blacktop Struct (starting at 5pm), enjoy the special limited edition Untold Pride Beer “I was Promised Unicorns,” with proceeds supporting Hingham Pride Project, along with pride flag giveaways, merch for sale, kids activities and face painting.

4. Juneteenth Celebration, Saturday

A fun event celebrating Juneteenth for the whole family. Food, live music from Big Redd’s House, a dance performance by Youth Acquiring Knowledge (YAK), presentation of the student winners of the Juneteenth expression contest and more! BBQ from the incredible Morell's will be available for purchase!

5. Hanover Farmer's Market, Sunday

Yes, Sunday is Father's Day but I have a great idea for you. Let dad sleep in and head to my favorite Farmer's Market with the kids and stock up on some last minute gifts or have the kids grab something they think dad will like. Hint: Burke's Hot Sauce and so many other awesome, local vendors!

Have a great weekend, friends!
