Summer Learning at Cohasset Learning Studio!

Classes and camps for all ages!

By Christina Skeldon & Abigail Sullivan May 18, 2022

If you have been following Macaroni Kid South Shore for the past year, you know my love and adoration for Cohasset Learning Studio. My almost 5 year old has grown tremendously in the past year and my husband and I attribute it to the studio and their wonderful teachers. Because the class sizes are so small, each student gets so much individualized attention and the teacher is able to meet them where they are. This summer is the perfect opportunity to see for yourself the difference that Cohasset Learning Studio makes (and to be honest, avoid the summer slump). With flexible scheduling and so many options, I couldn’t recommend reaching out and learning more! Read on to learn more about all of the amazing offerings this summer at CLS for kids of all ages!

Summer Learning At The Studio

Come join the fun and learning at Cohasset Learning Studio this summer. From the end of June through Labor Day we offer week-long summer programs focusing on literacy and math. Children in preK through grade 6 will be busy learning, laughing, and loving the content we have prepared for them.

Our camps are organized by grade and have 3 to 6 kids per group. All of our staff are licensed teachers prepared to quickly assess your child and adjust the learning materials to suit their needs for the week.

Sign up for summer programs on the website. Questions? Email Abigail at Abigail@CohassetLearningStudio.com or set up a phone call here

Here is a look at what we are offering this year:

PreK – Literacy and Math Enrichment

A small group focusing on early literacy and number sense. Children will engage in activities related to phonemic awareness, letter knowledge, fine motor skills,  listening comprehension, counting, patterns, and shapes.

*Once a week classes are also available

Kindergarten – Literacy and Math Enrichment

A small group focusing on early literacy and number sense. Children will engage in activities related to phonemic awareness, letter-sound knowledge, letter and number formation,  listening comprehension, counting, patterns, and problem solving.

*Once a week classes are also available

Gr. 1 – Literacy and Math Enrichment

A small group focusing on firming up kindergarten literacy skills and number sense in preparation for first grade. Children will engage in activities related to phonemic awareness, phonics (specifically consonants, short vowels, and digraphs), letter and number formation, journal writing,  listening comprehension, skip counting, solving number problems with addition and subtraction.

Gr. 2 – Literacy

A small group focusing on firming up first grade literacy skills in preparation for second grade. Children will engage in activities related to phonemic awareness, phonics (specifically short vowels, digraphs, glued sounds, blends, r-controlled vowels, and silent e), journal writing, fluency, and listening comprehension.

Gr. 2-3 – Creative Writing

Students will engage in reading mentor text to learn from great authors. Their teacher will demonstrate writing techniques such as story mapping, character development, dialogue, describing the setting, conflict development, and conflict resolution. The group will focus on creativity, trying new techniques, and fostering a love of language and story telling.

Gr. 3 – Time and Money

A small group focusing on telling time and working with money. It will also cover number sense and other math skills as they relate to time and money: estimating, skip counting, addition and subtraction, early fractions, and solving word problems.

Gr. 4-5 – Multiplication and Division

This group will strengthen fact power and explore the various strategies available to solve multi digit multiplication and division problems. They will review fact knowledge, visual representation, compare strategies, and solve real life word problems. Students will read Greg Tang's math stories as an entertaining entrance to solving problems in the most efficient way. They will work with peers to design their own business, which will incorporate the use of upper-level multiplication and division.

Gr. 4-6 – Creative Writing

Students will engage in reading mentor text to learn from great authors. Their teacher will demonstrate writing techniques such as perspective, character development, dialogue, figurative language, emotional appeal, and theme.  All students will receive their own writing journal to personalize the experience. The group will focus on creativity, trying new techniques, and fostering a love of language and storytelling.
