CORSE to host the North Pole Movie Experience this weekend!

By Lindsey Dietz November 23, 2021

In February 2006, a group of dedicated parents and educators established The CORSE Foundation (Community of Resources for Special Education) to raise funds to provide high-quality and affordable programming, training, and resources to benefit children with special needs (ages 3-22), their families, and educators throughout the South Shore.  CORSE has grown over the years, designing an innovative model within a blended framework of integrated and specialized social, academic, recreation, therapeutic and work-skills development programs so children with special needs can reach their full potential.  Our variety of programs are staffed appropriately through customized staffing ratios and special education expertise so ALL children, those with and without special needs, can successfully participate together within their community.

Some children with special needs need extra support, which makes it difficult for them to participate in many after school and summer programs that are designed for children who are able to participate with a high degree of independence. CORSE offers opportunities for kids who need extra support to participate fully alongside their siblings and peers and enjoy all the same kinds of fun activities. Having a child with additional needs can be isolating for the child and for the family. CORSE provides a safe space for many families and children, which helps them find connection and sense of belonging within the community. Giving others the chance to get to know kids who approach the world a little differently fosters the kind of acceptance and kindness that our world needs. My son, Chris, loves getting to participate in programming alongside his sister and peers--programming that he would never be able to participate in without CORSE’s staffing model to ensure he receives the support he needs to be successful. His over-the-top excitement every time he gets to attend a CORSE program or event says it all.

As the holidays approach, CORSE is hosting the North Pole Express Movie Experience to help families get into the holiday spirit while simultaneously supporting the CORSE mission. The event will take place at Scituate High School's Performing Arts Center with festive music, meet and greet opportunities with Santa’s elves and some fun North Pole characters. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas to get into the spirit of the event. There will be two showings to choose from: 11:20 and 3:45, both on this Sunday, November 20th.

To purchase tickets, please visit the CORSE website here! All proceeds will benefit the CORSE Foundation. Advance ticket purchase required for this event.
