By Christina Skeldon November 9, 2021

Every week, Macaroni Kid South Shore will introduce you to an amazing, local mom. Nothing makes me happier than supporting incredible women and I am so excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to some of the South Shore's finest!

This week, Rachael Meyers. Rachael is the creator and owner of The Collective Co., a creative workspace and event space dedicated to women and those who support them on the South Shore of Massachusetts. Not only did Rachael create a magazine-worthy brick and mortar in North Scituate for women to call their workspace, she has ignited a community of women supporting women and a hub for creative pop-ups, events and workshops. If you have not yet checked out The Collective Co., you can sign up for a free day pass and follow along on Instagram for all of the latest happenings (with lots of exciting things coming for the holidays!). Read on to learn more about Rachael, her beautiful family, the inspiring story behind The Collective Co. and of course, all of her favorite spots on the South Shore!

How many children do you have and how old are they?

I have two children, ages 5 and 7

What town do you live in and what is your favorite thing about the South Shore?
I grew up in Marshfield and always swore I would never come back but after living in NYC for most of my adulthood we knew there was no place we would rather be. Being near family and having the beautiful beaches, seasons and proximity to Boston. We love it here!

What do you like to do for fun with your kids on the South Shore? Without your kids?
We love exploring and heading to the Audubon Societies or going on the bike paths at Wompatuck State Park. We always take advantage of the incredible restaurants and, of course, the beaches. We love heading to Rexicana in Marshfield with friends for great music and margaritas. The kids always end up playing together or we'll grab tickets to one of the evening shows for a fun date night. We also love pizza nights on the beach with friends. You can't beat cozying up in sweatshirts and watching the sunset as the kids play. It is simply the best.

Tell me about The Collective Co.! What did you do for work before you opened its doors?
Before opening The CC I worked in corporate as an Art Director at UNICEF. I started a freelancing graphic design and branding business as I transitioned into Motherhood and at that time realized the need for a space to work with like-minded women. I opened The Collective Co. in April of this year and haven't looked back. The CC is a workspace and event space dedicated to women. We are located in North Scituate and it has been incredible to meet so many women, host events and really create a community around the space.

Has the South Shore had any influence on your work?
Absolutely! There are so many small businesses and women that I admire here. Being on the South Shore has inspired me in so many ways and I think really gave me a newfound respect for what it means to be a small business owner and to support local.

How do you balance work and life? Or do you?! ;)
Haha I've talked to so many women about this. I haven't found the secret yet but the best advice I've received is asking for help where you need it and being fully present in whatever you are doing. One of the perks of The CC is having a space dedicated for work, without distractions. Being really productive and checking things off the work list makes it so much easier to transition back into Mom mode as soon as I get home. It has also just been so grounding connecting with members when in the space. We all share about our days, kiddos and families and usually end up laughing at something that one of us is going through. But the best part is someone always has great advice and we're all trying to figure it out as we go.

Favorite places on the South Shore to:
Eat: Salt Society in Plymouth
Drink: Stellwagen Brewery in Marshfield
Play: Humarock Beach, Rexhame Beach

Thank you, Rachael!
