Gaffield Park Playground - Norwell

South Shore Playground Review

By Laurie Corbett, Publisher Mom, South Shore Boston October 29, 2015

UPDATED October 2019

Gaffield Park Playground is just around the corner from Norwell Center on River Street. Tucked into the woods you cannot see the playground from the road, but it's in there. At certain times of day, the playground has lots of shady spots, but midday the equipment can get hot with the sun baking down on it so be careful. New pathways and rubber surfaces were added in the summer of 2019 making the playground more accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

There are two different climbing structures at Gaffield Park Playground. The one designed for older kids looks like a barn and is very high. There are also swings for kids of all ages, a "tire" swing, a zip line, tee-pee, picnic tables, benches and something for everyone.

It is the perfect place to meet up with friends, bring a picnic, or play before heading around the corner to the beautiful Norris Reservation for a nature hike. There are no bathroom facilities at the park so plan accordingly.
