Everyone had a blast starting the party by learning about Miles, his sister Loretta, their parents, and their space-tastic robo-ostrich Merc. We enjoyed pizza, rocketed to the the moon with our Miles from Tomorrowland space helmets in our rocket, and making moon paintings upon our return. Then it was time for the big premiere!
Our party attendees were the first around to catch an episode of the brand-new Disney Jr show Miles from Tomorrowland which airs February 6th on the Disney Channel. The episode was titled "The Frozen Planet" and focuses on the Callisto family receiving a mission from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority to retrieve a rover from a newly discovered planet. Miles sister, Loretta, slips away on the ice and the family goes on a impromptu mission to find and rescue her.
The show parallels Cosmic Explorer Rules #24 (Some Missions Call for Instructions and Sometimes You Have to Find Your Own Way) and shares how Miles and Loretta each handle situations differently but that both following instructions and finding your own work sometimes. Everyone loved the preview and the kids insisted that we watch it a second time. I think some of them would have watched it a third if we had let them!
