Bicentennial Park Playground

Lower Reed Street

Rockland, MA

Bicentennial Park Playground is tucked in next to the track on Lower Reed Street in Rockland very near to Memorial Park school, and close to Rockland Middle and High Schools. It sits up on a small hill to the left of the track, but until recently was difficult to see from the road. The town has recently given the playground a face-lift including a fresh coat of yellow and blue paint which makes it much easier to see from the road.

It is a small playground, but has a slide, swing sets for both older and younger children, a tire swing, monkey bars in the shape of a carriage, 4 brand new riding horses which appear to be pulling the carriage, and a new, small, fire truck play structure. The swings and chains are also brand new, and a number of pieces of wood surrounding the structures have been replaced. It was a playground much in need of a makeover and the town of Rockland did a great job making it safe for kids to play while maintaining the charm of a small playground. It is set in the trees so there is plenty of shade, and there is ample area for picnicking including a picnic table.

The only bathroom is a port-a-potty. The track is used all day long by walkers and runners alike, and the field is used after school and on weekends by a variety of sports teams. The playground is still accessible at these times, but parking may be more difficult.
