South Shore Children's Museum Re-Opens at the Hanover Mall

By Laurie Corbett, Publisher Mom, South Shore Boston August 14, 2014
Our wonderful friends, and sponsors, at South Shore Children's Museum celebrated their Grand Re-Opening this past weekend and we couldn't wait to check out their new space and share it with you!

Their new space is in the Macy's wing of the Hanover Mall. While they may not have moved far their space is worlds away from the old one! They now have an entrance area, two separate rooms for the exhibits, a space for field trips and birthday parties and additional restrooms. We loved checking out all of our old favorite exhibits including the pioneer cabin, the cranberry bog, and Native American area in their new spaces. They are truly set up in a way that fosters play, exploring and learning.

My girls also enjoyed checking out the new covered wagon and water well! They loved climbing in and out of the wagon, and I found myself explaining how the water well worked to my 4 year old. It isn't often that I think to explain American history to her and I love how the museum fosters learning about history through play!

Museum admission is just $3 per person, or you can buy a 10-pass booklet for $25. Plus, right now you can buy a family membership for just $49! It is a great deal, and makes a wonderful gift for the kids who have everything.

Don't forget their Clothing Drive with Savers ends Saturday (8/16). Drop off your 13 gallon trash bags full of clothes, bedding and towels at the museum and you will get a FREE pass for each bag donated. Can't make it to the museum? Drop them off at the Rockland Public Library, or at Savers in Hanover. Just make sure you mention is is to benefit the South Shore Children's Museum's fundraiser!

The South Shore Children's Museum is located in the Macy's Wing of the Hanover Mall at 1775 Washington Street, Hanover, MA. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM - 7PM.
