On Tuesday, my oldest daughter and I attended a Brockton Rox baseball game at Campanelli Stadium as guests of the team. This was a rare, midweek, day-game because it was Kid's Day at the park. Kids from local day camps all over the area were in attendance. Their excitement was infectious and my daughter and I had a great time at the game!
The stadium is located right next to Brockton High School, and is very convenient to drive to. Parking was right next to the stadium, and we only had to walk a few feet to get to the entrance. When picking up out tickets we were able to choose where we wanted to sit from the seats still available on game day. We choose right behind home plate and it was a great choice. You can't get those kind of seat at Fenway! All the seats in the stadium are close to the field so you always have a great view of the game. The seats are also close to the concession stands and bathrooms which is important for any parent with young kids.
The game was great! We got to see many local up and coming college players, and in between innings the Rox continued to provide entertainment. They did trivia with a player vs. a kid, a water balloon toss, and launched t-shirts into the crowd. The team mascot, K-O, even got into some of the action and posed for photos with many in attendance.
It was a great way to spend some one-on-one time with my oldest, but the whole family would have had a blast. We were able to watch a good baseball game without paying Fenway prices ,and it was close to home on the South Shore. I would highly recommend the Brockton Rox as an adventure for any family who enjoys baseball, or for those just looking to get out of the house do something different this summer!
The Brockton Rox are members of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League and play at Campanelli Stadium Stadium against nine other area teams each summer to the joy of their fans. They are currently in 1st place in the East Division with just a few weeks to go in the season.
