MK Field Trip - Liquid Planet Water Park

By Laurie Corbett, Publisher Mom, South Shore Boston July 17, 2014
Last weekend my dad's family gathered a Pawtuckaway State Park in Nottingham, NH for their annual family reunion. Unfortunately with all of the stormy weather in NH early last week the lake wasn't clean enough for swimming.

Fortunately our friends at Macaroni Kid Seacoast (www.seacoast.macaronikid.com) had invited us to experience Liquid Planet Water Park. So, I gathered up my extended family and sixteen of us, from 3 months old to 60 years old, headed 10 minutes down the road to Candia to check it out! Thank you Liquid Planet Water Park for having us as your guests for the day!

We arrived at the park around noon, and since most families had arrived earlier the lounge chairs, grassy areas, and cabanas were already taken so we found a few tables with umbrellas and put our bags, towel, etc, there. My mom and the baby held down the fort while the little girls (10 months - 4 years old) checked out The Fountain of Youth and our lone boy (9 years old) went to survey the water slides, Trevor's Time Warp and Haley's Comet, and spring fed pond called Crater Lake. The girls had a grand time splashing in the water, and going down the small slides, and the toddlers loved the playground style swings hanging over the water that just got the tips of their toes wet. It was the perfect way for them to take everything in a get used to the splashing and frolicking.

After a while the whole family converged on Crater Lake for some old fashion pond swimming. It was a little crowded but once the camp group left there were plenty of tubes to float on and the line for the slide floating on the raft in the middle of the pond went away. My 4 year old had a blast swimming out in her life-jacket and sliding down into the pond. Her younger sister even got into the action and was brave enough to go down once flying over her aunt's head!

While we were at the pond some of the family decided to check out the zip-line and had a great time zipping over the park and our heads. The 9 year old in our group said it was by far the best part of the park!

Later in the afternoon we moved on to the water slides. It was perfect timing because the lines disappeared and we didn't have to wait long for our turns. Both of my girls (4 and 2) were able to go on the green slide with an adult and my older daughter was able to go on both slides by herself. Slide use is based on height so make sure your kids get the correct bracelets when you buy your tickets. The first time we went down without mat and it was a perfect first experience. On our second attempt we grabbed some mats, which are free to use, and zipped down the slides at lightening speed! It was a blast! My 4 year old eventually got brave and rode the slide alone with a lifeguard ready to catch her at the bottom.

While we were on the slides some of the other family members checked out Galactic Mini Golf, a 9 hole mini golf course up on the hill. They said it was a great break from the water and a chance for those who were a little chilly to warm up a bit before jumping back in the water.

You can bring your own Coast Guard Approved approved life-jackets which the staff checks at the gate. Outside food is not allowed within the park, but there are tables with umbrellas just outside the gate so you can bring food and eat it out there. We ate lunch before we headed to the park, but all of the sliding and swimming caused our crew to get hungry and we bought a large pizza to share at The Lunch Pad one the refreshment locations within the park. We stayed until they kicked us out as they were closing and we ducked into The Explorer's Station gift shop on our way out for ice cream to end our day.

All in all a great, family-friendly park in a beautiful NH setting. The park is geared toward younger children (12 and under) but the right teenagers could have a blast too. Check them out at www.liquidplanetwaterpark.com and show them some MK love on Facebook! If you are in NH, or need a road trip this summer, check them out and tell them we sent you!

Note - My immediate family received passes to Liquid Planet for the purpose of sharing it with our readers. No additional compensation was provided. The thoughts expressed are entirely my own.
