Summer reading programs are everywhere! From your local public library to local businesses and beyond they are designed to help kids stop the summer slide that often happens when school is out for the summer. Find the details on a wide variety of summer reading programs here ... 

Library Summer Reading Programs

Many local public libraries will be participating in the summer reading program theme On Your Mark, Get Set ... READ! which includes a reading journal, plus themed story times and activities at your local library. Some libraries may use a different program. Offerings, and start and end dates vary by library. Library links will be updated as they become available.

Buttonwood Books and Toys Read at the Beach Program

Kids pick up at reading journal at Buttonwood Books and Toys, log the books they read, and return the journal by August 26th to receive a $5 gift card and be entered to win a school bag raffle. They will also be hosting a story time and craft each Friday this summer for kids age 3 and up.

Barnes & Noble's Summer Reading Triathlon

Kids download and complete a reading journal from the Barnes and Noble website. When it is complete they bring it to their local store and trade it in for a new book!

The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge

Kids are encouraged to read and log the books they read over the summer by the ability to unlock stories and earn virtual rewards. There is also a place for parents to find book and activity lists, download free printable and ask questions.

Rockland Trust's Reading Makes Cent$ Program

Kids entering grades K-8 register to participate and log the books they read in their Reading Makes Cent$ Program journal. When the child has read four books they will qualify to have a savings account opened in their name and will be awarded $2.50 for each of those four books. They may also read up to an additional six books for a total amount earned of $25.

TD Banks Summer Reading Program

Kids in grades K-5 read books and log their progress. When they have read 10 books they bring their log to the nearest TD Bank and receive $10 in a new or existing savings account.

Dependable Cleaners Read to Ride Program

Kids age 6-15 read books and enter to win a bike for each book they complete through August 12th. Entry forms can be picked up and dropped off at any Dependable Cleaners location.

Sylvan's Book Adventure Program

Kids in grades K-8 look for books online, read them offline, and return to complete a short quiz to earn prizes.
