The Summer Struggle to "Take Care of Mama Bear"

By Laurie Corbett July 30, 2015
I’ll admit June and July were hard months for “taking care of mama bear”. Preschool ended in May and having three kids under six made it really hard to find the time to make it to classes with our wonderful sponsors at Oh Baby! Fitness, and the one time I brought all three it was an absolute nightmare - but carrying them around the field because they refused to walk gave me more of a workout than sitting at home would have  - it’s the small victories, right?! July consisted of being away from home more days than we were home! We definitely had a lot of great adventures, and family-fun, but it wasn't always the best environment for remembering to take care of me.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to take advantage of the awesome Oh Baby! Fitness programming this summer - their mom and baby pool class is screaming my name - so I started a steps challenge with my mom and for 10 days I hit my 10,000 step goal every day, and I even took 17,000+ steps one day! It wasn’t easy to find the time to move, but I made it a priority and even won the challenge. It, and trip to the doctor’s office for my annual physical and dermatologist for a routine skin check definitely put me back to the “taking care of mama bear” track!

Saturday I got back at it with Oh Baby! Fitness’ stroller class, at Derby Street Shoppes, and while I will admit to being a little scared about having taking some time off I was excited to get back at it, and I knew co-owner Kristen St. Amour would help motivate me to start back up and keep going.  Plus, I loved having some one-on-one time with my little guy, and it always so much fun meeting other local moms! While I was definitely sore for a few days I am excited to be headed back in the right direction and can't wait for the next class - because I'm worth it!
